ha. reminds me of when my oldest cousin got his first earring and how he hid it from our grandparents and whenever we went to family things, he'd take the earring out cuz our grandfather would not tolerate it. he'd hide the earring under his pillow. but mind you he was like 16 at the time and a boy honestly it's good that you can laugh about it and all. i have family that is the same way; however that ish got old...

My grandma was different LOL. She would have went with me and helped me pick out what I wanted. My mom would have cussed her to no end. She would have caught a beat down for cussing her momma but she would have done it.

I understand it's a different culture. She can hate it all she wants, but ripping it out of a grown woman's ears is just wrong and not justified at all.

Your grandma needs to take it down a notch. You can't put your hands on other people just because you don't like what they do. I can't wait to show my grandmother my tattoo. She's going to flip but she won't try to hack it off my body.

Oh no no no, none of us had second holes when we were babies because of the traditional thing. We're not all afraid to get them now, I just happen to not like them which is why I don't have them. We all got our ears pierced when we were 3 months old.

My grandfather was the same way with my mom when she was younger, but to spite him she went straight for two holes all at once. He said no ear piercing until she was a certain age, and that if god wanted holes in our ears he would have put them there himself. Well before the age limit he set she came home one day and pulled her hair away from her ears and said "SEE DAD! God wanted two holes in each of my ears!" and walked off...but got chased down, chewed out, and grounded.

I get that the grandmother is traditional. I just can't imagine all of the women in the family NOT getting 2nd holes because they're scared of her.

I have a grandmother like that though cute isn't the way I'd describe her at all. Mine is a control freak with nothing nice to say about anything. It appears the OP's grandmother is just traditional. It's not a big deal and certainly not abuse.

Trying to rip anyone's piercings out is a violent act in my book. The only ones I don't think that way about are infants but they don't know any better.

My 78 year old 4'11'' year old grandma with alzheimers not liking that my aunt got another piercing and wanting to take them out is abuse? Please people. If only it were that easy. Her family isn't weird. Its just a different culture. Not everyone that lives in this country is the same. Or thinks that way.

I didn't say it was weird. I just think the behaviour is inappropriate & potentially abusive. That's why I said *I* would stay away from someone like that. I don't find that lovable behaviour at all.

Wow thats crazy. My grandma is 78 and couldn't care less about my 14 piercings and 2 tattoos. She was mad at first but then she decided it's my body and life and it's not the end of the world and she got over it.

My grandma! And was justfied in that fear too! She's wanted one since she was 16 and my grandma always refused and said she would have none of that in her family. Which is why all of us only have one hole in each ear, hell I got in trouble for having fake tattoo's on. So finally Friday she was at the jewelers and was like fuck it and got a second hole in each ear with some studs but didn't tell...
