Yes, it would. There is no reason for an adult to have such serious errors in grammer. Subject-verb agreement is pretty basic.

A refusal to speak correctly as an adult, especially to the extreme of using was/were improperly, shows me that the person is embracing ignorance . I can't think of anything less attractive than a person who openly embraces ignorance, instead of wanting to better themselves with knowledge.

I am going to try to overlook it because I do enjoy hanging out with him.. even though it's going to drive me nuts! Maybe if we get more serious I can mention it to him, and we can fix it.

Yeah, my boyfriend is horrible at spelling, but he speaks properly. I think that would definitely be a deal breaker for me.

Yes. That would drive me nuts, and even if I couldn't tell immediately in what other ways he was stupid, I would know those ways were out there and I wouldn't want to stick around long enough to find out what they are.

So, I'm dating this guy and everything is pretty good. He's cute, and nice, and everything is comfortable when I'm with him, and we get along well. However, he can't spell and when he talks he uses Was instead of Were.

For example:
I told you you was going to do a good job.

I don't know if I can look past this. I know that's bad, but it really gets to me....
