This site may help. I don't know anything about thyroid problems so I won't vouch for the contents, but I've seen this site recommended before. It seems to be popular.

At the very least it's a topic you can bring up with your endocrinologist.

Anyway I hope you get your health issues sorted out. I know how frustrating it is to have a problem, not know what it is, and the doctors don't...

I am not knocking a family doctor at all but maybe your endocrinologist could/would think of something that a family doctor wasn't thinking of! I hope you find something. I went to a doctor for something completely different and things kept coming back normal and it was so frustrating because I knew this wasn't normal for me. He kept telling me that there was nothing wrong. grr!

Just a family doctor. But this bariatric surgeon that I'm going to see requires you to visit a endocrinologist so I'll probably be going to one at some point.

Jen how long have your legs been swelling? I do feel for you, occasionally my ankles swell like on hot days, or when I've had too much salt. I can only imagine how unconfortable you are. Do you have a high salt diet? If so try to really cut back and drink a lot of water to flush out your system. Cantelopes also help to release fluid (sometimes this fluid builds up in the ankles). The weight is a sore subject, but what bothers me the most is that I'm telling you I KNOW that there is something else, I know that there has to be a reason why those two tests have been elevated for as long as I've had these symptoms and I feel like I'm a walking billboard when I walk into a doctors office and they don't try very hard to figure out what it is. Diet, also Jane. Even though you eat you still need a balance diet. Eating nothing but junk (not saying that here) will do that to your hair as well (think along the lines of friend foods bring on blemishes in people)

Well I know this probably isn't the place to state this, but the doctors probably DO get frustrated that time and money are being spent on testing people who want to find they have some other problem when they know deep down that the issue is simply they are overweight. I would get frustrated. It's a huge problem in America, and a lot of funds are being drained into problems associated with obesity. I do not think it is okay to be judgmental, but I can understand their frustration.

Like why are you wasting my time. "what about trying to lose weight" Its being judge and especially if your doctor is someone who is in shape or has an easy time with it. It is one of those that unless you go through something like it you just don't get it.

Well what do you want them to do? Make up a disease you have so you don't have to blame it on your weight? I understand that you're frustrated, I honestly do. But I think you're looking for something else to be the root of your problems when really, it's just that very thing you've been struggling with.

I totally know how you feel. I really feel like I have a thyroid problem and have many symptoms, but all the times I'm tested it's fine. The last time I had blood work done the nurse said "It doesn't appear that you have PCOS." Which I was also being tested for. So I'm thinking, it doesn't appear? I want either a yes or a no. I had more blood work done a couple of months ago and the ahole doctor has yet to give me the results. I need to call on Monday....

Been going to the doctor all week, they were doing lots of different bloodwork and I'm telling you I could swear that I had an autoimmune disorder especially since my mom does.
