Owen had to have blood taken at seven, two years ago. They were testing him for Fragile X, he has quite severe autism.

There was only a chair and no place for him to lie down. I literally had to hold him on my lap and my husband had to hold his arms down.

It was awful. Especially since you can't really explain what is happening to them

My 6 yr old isnt so bad, but I always have to hold down my 15 month old which is the SADDEST thing.

I get better with it as time goes on i guess. feb '07 i was hooked up to a gang of needles including a lovely and cozy catheder lol. and i woke up to that so i havent really freaked out as much as i do on the inside since then. weird.

I passed out when I was 19 during a glaucoma test. No needles and it doesn't hurt, but I used to hate things to touch my eyeball. I had an anxiety attack and 2 nurses had to come in to calm me down. One had me do some deep breathing when I started to wake up and she put a wet rag on my head so I could wake up completely. The first thing I remember, after being woke up, was a nurse saying "she is starting to get color...

Poor guy. I hated shots when I was younger.

I've actually passed out from one of those finger prick things where they take your blood - no joke! I have a very hard time with needles.

I'm studying to be a nurse, and this post scares me. I'm going to love being a nurse, but I'm gonna hate having to stick people with needles. Especially kids!

Let's talk about my first blood test when I was 8. I had my mom, a nurse to two, and a doctor to hold me down so he can get a sample of my blood. He did it twice, because I moved the first time and the needle cut me slightly.

I was scared when I was little but nothing abnormal. I really hated when they put that thing on your tongue and make you say ahhh. i always used to choke on it and the taste of it would make me gag.

im kind of scared of needles but i know it needs to get done so i just look away and want them to just do it. the part where im anticipating it is the worst for me.

When my brother freaked out he freaked out like no one I've ever seen. He was getting his boosters to start school and he was acting like they were going to euthenize him no exageration.

My parents tried to hold him down, and it actually took 2 nurses on each arm, my parents on both legs, and a doctor to give him A LIQUID lol. because he was still struggling so hard.

and when he took the liquid he was like gurgling and ish because he refused to swallow.

I couldn't hold him from the armpits, because the shots needed to go into the shoulder. So I had to hold him so that no part of his shoulder or arm would move.

If you hold him from below the armpits, it'll calm him down too. I don't know why, but it triggers something and always wrks when I need to calm a screaming fit.
