I think people who use the whole "well they chose to work a $3/hr job" are idiots. How much do they think their food would cost if the servers were paid minimum wage (or more in more expensive restaurants)? Yeah, I'm thinking it would be more than 15% more as most of the servers out there make less than 1/2 of the minimum wage.

Oh...and if I were on a date with someone who felt that way, it'd be the last date ever. If he can't be bothered to tip I can imagine...

I dated a guy who thought tips where unnecessary. We had many heated conversations at restaurants because not only did he not want to leave a tip, but he'd lose his shit if I started to leave one instead.

If the service is good, I tip. If it sucks, no tip.

You have to earn your tip.

I tip even if I have horrible service. I use to waitress, I know what it's like, and I'm too nice.

The person who said that is an idiot. Tipping is part of going out to eat, not having to cook and have someone serve you. If you don't want to tip, cook your own food in your own kitchen. Now if the service is horrible that's different, but tipping, in general, is part of the restaurant experience. If you don't like it, don't go out.

Since I know how nice it is to get tips, I always tip. And simply put youre an asshole if you think of it like your co worker said.

i get people who i do a lot for them and im really nice and all that stuff and not a tip, sometimes not even a thank you or anything

I don't think that very many people DO think like that, because it's extremely rare that somebody doesn't leave a tip at all.
