I like the series about Anita Blake by Laurell K Hamilton. It's kind of like a cross between Buffy and Sue Grafton. Only book 1 to about 5 though, then it went to crap.

I just went out and bought the Vampire Diaries [all 4.. well rather 2 since they compiled them]

Finished the first book/half - not sure how I feel about it, tbh. I think I just have issues w/ Elena..

I'm catching up on all of the Twilights posts here at JJB and I just wanted to drop in and recommend two books. They're both in the young adult category so you might like them. I read all of them before I got into Twilight. They all have really good descriptions about vampire/human relationships and how they struggle with them. I included some descriptions I found on wikipedia.

Anne Rice's entire vampire series is the best out there and then when she ties it in with the Mayfair Witches.........

My roommate likes the vampire series by Charlaine Harris. I think there's about 6 books in the series. They are making it into an HBO series with Anna Paquin playing the lead role.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J.R. Ward is AWESOME. The books titles are all Lover Unbound, Lover Enshrined, Lover Awakened, Lover Revealed... sounds smutty because it is. But a VERY GOOD read and totally different.

Never read it but people rave about the Silver Kiss. Its older and it sounds like something that mightve inspired twilight. YA.

Colleen Gleason's Gardella Vampire series is kind of like Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Pride and Prejudice. I totally recommend it.

The House of Night novels by P.C. Cast and her daughter. Chosen, Betrayed and Marked... in that order. A very different take on vampires. Good, cute, teen girl read.
