i guess they've lightened the skin to match the hair color. no big deal, ads are ALWAYS altered anyways.

It looks more like the ad is just really bright. And the second ad side-by-side shows that the entire ad on the right looks more washed out. I'd say they have a point if the hair/dress/background/text/etc looked the same and only her skin didn't, but that's not the case.

That could easily just be down to the printers on the two magazine/the lighting on the photo shoot rather than them purposely trying to bleach her skin.

Though even if they did lighten the pictures, it may not necessarily be anything to do with "darker skin = less mainstream." I've lightened a ton of pictures in Photoshop myself when making icons or banners - not because I had any problem with the person's skin tone, but because the overall picture was a little too...

That Loreal ad to the right, they just took a white rectangle and put it on top of the ad and made it extremely opaque. The Loreal letters are even a tinsy lighter. They made the entire ad lighter.

That or it could be that they scanned it and altered it to look that way to cause drama. Everything is lighter in the picture on the right, her skin, her dress, her hair...

In her contract with L'Oreal, it states she has to use her real hair in the ads. I agree it was airbrushed (they gave her a new nose!), but she is naturally a pale girl. All these darker pics people keep finding are of her with a tan!
