I find I can't look into someone's eyes while I'm talking to them if I don't know them well enough. But if I'm talking to a friend and having a deep conversation I'm a little more comfortable with it. Not like continually staring into their eyes though cause that's creepy.

Also if people stare at me I usally go back and stare at them and make eye contact and then they just quickly look away. So yeah, I'd say that awkwardness would be the main...

Some people aren't comfortable with eye contact. Some men are too attracted to boobs so they look down then look up. And some people never waiver in eye contact.

I always look people straight in the eyes; although not uninterruptedly that would be awkward! I have noticed Americans are generally shyer "eye-contacters" than Europeans lol

I always make eye contact with the people I talk to. If they break it, I feel that they don't care about what I'm telling and it makes me uncomfortable and I avoid talking to them the next time. In my opinion, if you care about what people tell you, you should eye contact them.

I hate eye contact. It makes me so uncomfortable. I do try to at least glance at the person's eyes once in a while, but staring makes me feel weird.

Hmmm.....I don't know if there is an actual psychological reasoning for breaking eye contact. There might be...it would be interesting to see if there have been studies done on it.

I never look anyone in the eyes unless I'm having a deep, serious conversation with them, or I need to get my point across while expressing sincerity.

Other than that, I almost always look away or divert my eyes elsewhere. It's just weird to stare into someones eyes during a casual moment.

Really? Huh. I'll have to study that in people I speak to.

I used to be the same way, xBecky. I couldn't do it. I had a summer tutor for math and science in 6th grade who made me look into her eyes at least once a day while she taught me. I hated it but it worked a little bit. But I couldn't do it completely until I was in my late teens.

I have an extremely hard time looking people in the face, even my very closest friends and family. I don't know why.

Males and females. My mom did that to me in the hallway when I was talking to her and I've had several customers do the same when I'm behind the counter, that's almost taller than I am. I can't exactly tell WHERE their eyes advert to but it always seems to be the collarbone, maybe chest area. I want to yell at them for it.
