I'm not ashamed or embarrassed because, well, it just is what it is - but it is patronizing when people find out and are like, oh, that's awesome, I wish I was a virgin, don't just give it up, etc., like someone else just mentioned.

I don't lie about it, but I tend not to mention it because of that reaction. I didn't tell my current roommate until I'd known and lived with her a year, and by then, she had, um, guessed. I feel well- informed enough by books,...

I definitely feel embarrassed about it. I feel like it's pretty obvious when people look at me. It's like it's not normal to be a virgin especially after 21. People always seem confused about it. I agree about the not being about to share sex stories part, which can be awkward. I could change it if I really wanted to I guess but I waited this long so better make it right.

I am 22 and i am still a virgin. I haven't been a in a serious relationship so far. Most of my friends are not, but i have never felt ashamed. It is all a matter of personal choice and circumstances.

I think it's almost patronizing too when people find out and they are like, "aww well I wish I were a virgin." Almost everyone says that. I'm sure some people are sincere about it, but mostly I feel like it's just a pity thing.

I lost my virginity last year at 26. I wouldn't say that I was ever ashamed or embarassed because it took so long. I'm just glad that it felt right at the time and I don't regret it looking back on it.

To me, I have my own personal feelings about it, but it's like some people have sex, some people haven't, so what? lol It's not a competion. I don't get why people act like it's some rite of passage to 'adult life'. lol It's like..calm down, it's not a game or a race lol

It just sucks when your friends are talking about it and you want to participate in the conversation. Or when you play Kings and "never have I ever" comes up. I get embarrassed even, but why ashamed? I get that Intro means maybe she's ashamed she hasn't found any lasting relationships or people she cared about enough to be with. But to just be ashamed to be a virgin in itself..I don't get lol And I'm a virgin and 21. I don't get embarassed either. It's just a choice we all make for ourselves, like anything else.

I grew up with a lot of fast girls and I felt old to have lost it at 15, so essentially I was embarrassed a bit. I really just wanted to get it over with. Of course, looking back I see how young I was and I should have waited...

I'm 24 and I'm not necessarily ashamed of it, but there are times where it can be embarrassing. One time when I was getting a bikini wax, the woman said something about how my boyfriend would appreciate it... I didn't say anything in response, but I wanted to say 'Well, I don't have a boyfriend but even if I did... not so much.'

Pehaps it isn't being a virgin that I'm actually ashamed of. I'm ashamed of the fact that I've never been in a relationship with someone I cared about and believed that they cared about me at the same time. If I had, I wouldn't be a virgin, but I've always seen the guys I was with as they were, and they were always playing a game.

It is a weird situation to be in at this point in my life and I have no reason to believe anything will change anytime soon.

If I was 30 or 35 and still a virgin, then I might feel ashamed. But perhaps not.
