Maybe she is talking about it now, so that she CAN go promote her album? If she wants to be able to do interview and whatnot without being asked about this she needs to let it all out now so that everyone else can move on from the subject as well.

But this is the first time she's even discussed the situation in depth. If discussing the issue helps her cope and reevaluate as well as give other victims of DV an opportunity to find solace, so be it.

I really don't think she's doing this to promote her album. Why would she pimp out the story of her getting beat for fun? That's embarassing, especially when everyone knows. You might as well talk about it now while you can

The fact that abused women don't talk about it is one of the reasons why domestic abuse continues to be a problem.

I'm glad she waited until now. Now the assault will be fresh on the minds of people again and ruin Chris' chances at a comeback -and make people forget about his attempt to gain sympathy a few months ago.

I'm happy she's finally speaking out because a lot of young women look up to her and won't return to an abusive relationship.

Nope those same girls are still blaming her with their " She hit him" story. No matter what they don't want to believe her. And Chris is not trying to put a end to that theory.

yeah, I guess that's one way to look at it. I'm just a cynic and tend to see the bad outcome in a lot.

I'm glad she is speaking about it. She has nothing to be ashamed of. So many women who suffer from domestic violence feel guilty. If her speaking publicly helps just one person than it was totally worth it.

yeah she is promoting the album and probably wanted to get this off her chest to move on. People are always going to question and want to know her side of the story when they see her promoting and stuff.

Like it or not...its going to be brought up from time to time. There is no getting around it for her. Especially if she goes on certain shows like Oprah.

that's exactly why I was thinking that I wish she didn't talk about it. Not because I believe this is what she's doing.. but I know this is how a lot of the media is going to construe it. JMO though.. I don't really care either way. I don't read the articles.
