You should say "She wouldn't have been a mom without you!"

That's my husband's excuse usually. "You're not my mother." Ugh. My daughter did get me some things though on her own. That's like
only the second time in my 17 years of motherhood I got something.

I think of it as a celebration of mothers! And I take personal offense that he doesn't seem happy that she gave him kids!

My parents do not get each other anything on celebratory days or occasions. Not even their anniversaries. My mom jokes around and says something like to my
dad, "Hey your brother got his wife a nice diamond ring for Valentine's, and what did you get me?". My dad replies, "For today's special
day I got you groceries with brocoli and cabbage, what is any gift better than that?"

I think my dad's the only one who DID get my mom anything. I got her a card because I'm WAY too poor for anything else (I currently OWE her money,
actually), and my brother probably didn't get her anything either.

That's funny because my husband said "Happy Mother's Day" to me today and I said "Thanks, but I'm not your mom."

I think I agree with the dad. If the kids are young its his responsibility to help them out but he shouldn't be obligated otherwise.

My dad doesn't get anything for my mom for mother's day or her birthday. But my sister, husband and I take care of her.

I think it's special when a husband gets his wife a Mothers Day gift. After all, she is the mother of his children.

My dad uses that excuse. Yet, he doesn't buy anything for his mother.

My dad gets the flowers, the card and the big present from all of us. And then we buy her lil things as well.

That's just wrong. My dad gets my mother something every single year. Even if it's flowers. I mean, she is the mother of his children. A
little appreciation would help

My dad called and wished me a happy mother's day, because my husband and my dog count as two kids!

I agree with the dad. I would neither expect nor want my husband to wish me a happy mother's day.

When I worked at Things Remembered, a bunch of men came in. Not just young guys, but older men, getting their wives Mother's Day gifts
