My daughter started to say my husband's name a lot (she says Daddy too) and my MIL said I shouldn't let her say it and I should only call him Daddy so
she understand. I find this wierd, he is not my father and my daughter knows he is both his real name and Daddy. Do you know anyone who does it?

I could see if you were to say to her "Go give this to Daddy" or using it that way. But saying "Daddy I need you to take out the garbage"
is odd.
i've never heard of that before. |

a few people but I always find it strange. My boyfriends parents do it and he is 25- I don't think hes confused about whether his dad is John or daddy.

My mom and dad never called each other 'mom' or 'dad' unless it was in the context of 'ask your dad' type thing. I think most kids know
the difference after they hit a certain age and you can explain it to them for them to understand. It always helped my mom and dad out that I knew their first
names, since I'd fill out all the school forms for them and just let them sign them.

My parents still refer to one another as Mommy and Daddy in conversation with me...but if my mom is just calling for my dad or talking to him or something
she'll say his name and not "Daddy." I think that would be kind of weird

I had college classes with an older Hispanic lady who always referred to her husband as "Papi," which I thought was a little...bizarre.

I only call my bf "daddy" if I'm talking to my daughter about him. Like, "go tell daddy blah blah blah" Any other way it would be
extremely weird.

My friends mom called her husband Daddy all the time. It was kind of weird, but she is japanese so the way she said it was kind of cute

spouse "papi" in spanish, isn't the same as calling him "daddy" in english, it has a different connotation. Sorta like Americans call
their SO "baby." If you called your husband "baby" in spanish it would sounds really weird and kinda innnapropriate. it's definitely a
cultural thing.

My mom calls my dad a number of things but his actual name and "daddy" aren't among them.

My aunt calls my uncle Dad.
but they don't have any kids together. Her kids were already grown when they got together and didn't even live with them... it's weird. My parents will refer to each other as mom and dad in the sense of "ask your mom" type of thing, otherwise they call each other honey. |

My dad calls my mom and step mom "mama" ha-ha. Not in a little kid voice, he has a accent so it doesnt sound weird to me. But then again maybe I am
used to that.

My great aunt calls my great uncle "Daddy"
Apparently she started it when my cousin was born so that she wouldn't get confused. My cousin is now in her 40s, my great aunt in her 80s and my great uncle is 94 and she is STILL doing it. |

Yeah, definitely creepy to call him "daddy" and they are not in the middle of sexual activity

My mom will refer to my dad as Daddy and my dad'll refer to her as mama..it began when my sister was little (prior they called one another by their first
names..and so did she and they didn't like that).
