I'm considering getting a dog and just looking at different kinds. I want something cute that gets relatively big. Ithink yellow labs are pretty.

I have a black lab. Well.. he's mostly black lab. His tail is a pretty curly and fluffy, so I don't know what else is in there.

Labs are a lot of work. They're great dogs but they need a lot of training because they can be the most annoying pain in the asses if they don't have
it.
Personally, my golden retriever is a lot easier to deal with activity wise then my lab. My lab is definitely more of a "GO GO GO" and my golden retriever is like, "Eh whatever." |

I have a german shepherd (just turned 1), he is big but sheds a LOT. Our lab mix is 14 and about half the size. Not sure if that helps or not.

I have a foster Wolfhound right now. Big dogs are so awesome.

I'll look up the golden retriever too.
Do you keep your dogs inside more than outside? I see that they are really active. I have a pretty big yard so the dog won't have to stay inside all day or anything. |

Mine slept inside and everything but spent a lot of time outside. My parents have a huge yard and he would run around and also they would take him swimming.
Labs love to swim.

Jenna1983 wrote:Wow, I have 2 black Labs and I've had the total opposite experience. Very little training required -- you teach them things a couple of times and they get it right away. I've had Labs for most of my life, and it seems like the females I've had are more energetic than the males. My female Labs have been hyper and always wanting to cuddle. The male Labs are of the "I just wanna sleep" mentality. |

I've always had labs. We had a black lab and now we have a yellow lab. He is inside more than out. He only goes outside if he has to go to the bathroom or
if we are playing with him. And he likes to go outside and lay in the sun sometimes.
Labs are wonderful dogs but they need a lot of training and attention. I recommend crate training until they are old enough to be trusted in the house alone. |

Yeah I've never had a problem with any of my labs needing a lot of training. They pick things up really quickly. They are one of the smartest breeds of
dogs.

Labs are great dogs! I have a collie puppy. I have always loved them. My brother has a black lab and he is so friendly and sweet. He is big too. He just turned
a year and weights 85 pounds!
My collie is so beautiful and sweet too. He is very protective. My friend has a rottweiler and he is a good dog (people think that they are aggressive , but he isn't) Good luck and keep us posted! |

I have three big dogs and I love them. My dogs get walked twice a day and they go outside to use the bathroom but that is it unless we are spending time
outside. They don't like to hang outside without us being out there with them. They are inside dogs for sure.

There aren't a lot of adoption places in my area so it is going to be quite a process finding a dog since I would like to meet the dog before adopting it.
I'm trying to make sure I find one that will be compatible with me and enjoy this area.

My dogs are inside dogs. And I've had a total of three labs (currently have one). My yellow lab was insane. My other chocolate was the best lab. The
chocolate I have now I definitely wish was like the other chocolate lab. She's energetic and has separation issues. If she doesn't run like crazy
she's a bitch to deal with. I swear she had ADHD and OCD.
My golden retriever is just completely different and doesn't care what goes on. She hates to run. She looks at a frisbee like, "WTF is that dumb thing. I just want to go back inside." She carries stuffed animals and socks around. That's the most of her activity level. |

We just got a yellow lab - she's about 3 months old and she's been great!
We haven't had time to get her formal training yet, but she's picking up A LOT very quickly. We got her because we have a baby and she's so good with our daughter. Labs are social dogs - so they love to be around people! And they do love to be outside and to be active... |

I have a black lab. He's the second my family's had. They're absolutely the BEST dogs. So friendly, incredibly smart, and pretty too. Lots of
personality!
