Where is a nice, reasonably priced hotel in NYC that would be convenient to the shopping areas?

All of New York is a shopping area. Downtown in Soho are the cool hip boutiques, Upper East Side is the snooty beautiful stores, midtown is Macys, etc.

Try the Courtyard on Third Ave, or the Doubletree on Lexington.

My mom always stays at the same place, it's like $100 a night and about 3 blocks from Macy's Herald Sq. It's call the Herald Sq. Hotel I believe.
On 31st between 5th and Broadway.

Thanks, I'll investigate those. Anyone ever stayed in the Marrakech?

Unfortunately the Courtyard and Doubletree are way out of our price range, and the Herald Sq. isn't really what we're looking for. We're going for
seven days so we want somewhere affordable but comfortable.

I don't think we'll need to go as far out as New Jersey, we just don't want to spend $500 a night for a hotel.
