My sister's mother in law just got rid of chiggers so I'm pretty sure I got them from their house. She said that if you put clear fingernail polish over them it cuts of the oxygen and they die. Well, I put some on last night and they still itched all day today and I had to re-apply it this afternoon b/c it was starting to peel off. Ugh, my legs look so gross and they still friggin itch like crazy. Why won't they DIE?!?!?!?!
So, I'm pretty sure I have chiggers.

ugh! It started out as a spot that looked like a freckle/mole on my foot (which freaked me out b/c I had just been in the sun a lot the day before.) and then
it became a bump and then scabbed over and then the next day I started getting little red spots on my leg that looked like mosquito bites or chicken pox. They
itch like crazy and they started spreading up my leg.

They're larvae of mites.

They don't burrow into the skin and from what I've read in the past, nail polish won't help.

If a person or pet becomes infested with chiggers, it's important that you wash them as well as their clothing at the same time. Otherwise larvae that hadn't yet made it to the skin can stick around for another chance and once they feed, they will drop off and head for the nearest houseplant.Source: http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com/pest-control/how-to-get-rid-of-chiggers |

Nail polish actually helps a lot, at least with the stinging pain. Just paint over the worst areas, it's what we always do.
Lots of chigger experiences living in a house with a creek and woods. |
