If he tried to be in your life now, would you let him?

I want to. I don't want to hate him the rest of my life, but I just can't forgive him for it.

I don't know if I could. I can't take anymore hurt from my "dad."

I have 2 friends who are in your situation apprehensive, one guy one girl. Both their fathers are trying to get back into their lives, but they are 100%
apathetic to his attempt. They don't hate him, but they think it's a little too late to make ammends.

No. I haven't seen him since I was 11 and I'm 20 now. If he wanted to be in my life he could have a long time ago.

They don't hate him, but they think it's a little too late to make ammends. That's where I am, but I've been feeling like this my entire life. Way too much information. |

Hell no. I better not ever meet that douche. I don't want anything to do with him.

He's tried to be back in my life and failed. He took me for guitar lessons when I was a teen and then he stopped because they were "too
expensive." He really shouldn't have offered to begin with if he couldn't afford it. Every time he sends me a holiday/birthday card he says,
"Let's get together soon." But I never hear from him after that.

Well, my father was away a lot and came home late so we never really had a chance to bond or anything.
I mean he'd take me to the bookstore (we both like to read) but that doesn't really count. Now, things are okay, like we talk but I'm not as close to him as I am with my mom. |

Yes, and I have.
I suppose is was easier for me because I saw him like every two or so years and he called on my birthday. |

My parents got divorced when I was 4 and my brother was 2. He moved back to Penn and we stayed in Indiana with my mom. He was supposed to get us every summer
all summer long but we got lucky to see him one week a year and he would come here for that week. There was a period when I was a kid that we didn't see
him for about 5 years. I never cared for him, I had my papaw as my father figure. He got remarried on my brother's birthday of all days and his wife made
him decide between them and us. He chose them. I finally disowned him when I was 18. I haven't seen or heard from him since. My mom and brother keep in
contact with him but he isn't family to me and not someone I want to know. So to answer the question, no he will never be a part of my life or my kids
lives.
