They talk about not giving their girl's birthday presents because they provide for a great party, pizza, fun activities and their friends give presents.
So maybe they give $1 a week for chores, but if they got grocery shopping, they get that candy they want. Or if they are good and get that $1 allowance a
week but ask for a new pair of shoes, maybe they get that.
If that is the case, that is a LOT different than a parent who gives $5/10/20 a week and then tells a child "If you want the new shoes, pay for it
yourself out of your allowance."
