Males and females. My mom did that to me in the hallway when I was talking to her and I've had several customers do
the same when I'm behind the counter, that's almost taller than I am. I can't exactly tell WHERE their eyes advert to but it always seems to be the
collarbone, maybe chest area. I want to yell at them for it.

Maybe you need to word that differently because it's not making sense to me. Maybe I'm just tired....

You mean they break eye contact? Well there are a couple reasons. Either you're amazingly breathtaking and you intimidate them. Or not so much and they
look away out of disgust.

I'm saying when people are talking to me face to face, their eyes seem to advert down at the "end" of the conversation. I feel like they're
looking at my chest or something. And its weird, because only older adults do this to me.

Only psychopaths and sociopaths stare straight into people's eyes without looking away at all.

Do you have big boobs? Do you wear shirts? If you answered yes to the first, that's why. If you answered no to the second, that's why.

I have an extremely hard time looking people in the face, even my very closest friends and family. I don't know why.

Really? Huh. I'll have to study that in people I speak to.
I used to be the same way, xBecky. I couldn't do it. I had a summer tutor for math and science in 6th grade who made me look into her eyes at least once a day while she taught me. I hated it but it worked a little bit. But I couldn't do it completely until I was in my late teens. |

Maybe some psyche major can address this, but I seem to remember if people break eye contact and look downward it's because they're uncomfortable.

I never look anyone in the eyes unless I'm having a deep, serious conversation with them, or I need to get my point across while expressing sincerity.
Other than that, I almost always look away or divert my eyes elsewhere. It's just weird to stare into someones eyes during a casual moment. |

I think on a general level it can be said that when people are nervous or uncomfortable they will break from eye contact (look downward), but at the same time, it doesn't always mean a person is uncomfortable. Sometimes its just straight weird to look directly into a persons eyes the whole time lol. |

I hate eye contact. It makes me so uncomfortable. I do try to at least glance at the person's eyes once in a while, but staring makes me feel weird.

Anyway, not a big deal I just read it somewhere but my memory is shit right now! |

I always make eye contact with the people I talk to. If they break it, I feel that they don't care about what I'm telling and it makes me uncomfortable
and I avoid talking to them the next time. In my opinion, if you care about what people tell you, you should eye contact them.

But I think in any other situation you have to know how you come across. I was mentioning earlier about something I read that addressed this, but I
can't find it. But I did find my old ass book on how to read people. It says that not making eye contact comes across as dismissive or submissive. Just
something to think about. IDK. I personally would never stare at someone like a psychopath without blinking, but looking at people periodically when you're
talking to them just to me shows that you're interested in what they're saying. People that don't look at me when we're talking get filed in
the rude/weak folder. I don't have the patience.
