It has gone from terrified to awkward to cordial/kind to now legitimately friendly. The slow progress is messing with my mind, and makes me wonder if it will go full-circle to where we are sexin' again and/or (ideally) dating. I see it as MAYBE something in the not-so-near future; like even as late as a year from today. He's banging another chick, so he is probably not thinking of me at all right now. I'm not holding my breath ... and I'm not interested in just sex anymore. But yeah, has that ever happened with anyone? What was the situation? How/why did you reunite?

Basically I think in your situation you have two options: be upfront with him and tell him what you're looking for, or wait it out and see if he's interested. I bet that he'll never think of you as anything more than a fuck buddy though... sorry to say that, but I think it's just how guys operate.

But I almost wish I didn't see any sort of improvement or progress, because then I could lose hope and put a fork in it foreverrrr.

The formula is usually the same, they miss me, they start flirting, drop a few lines about sex. I'm usually nice and friendly, don't mind sharing a few drinks/talking, but I never go back to having sex with them. It's over and done with.

Usually in a span of YEARS rather than months, but they did poke their head back in again. But it was always so late that I wasn't interested anymore. Ironic! I wonder why guys do that, and why girls usually won't have it.

This is all why I adopted a cell phone policy of: Unless you're a good guy friend already or a number I need for networking purposes, if you don't make effort to contact me with in two weeks (of me last contacting you) you get deleted. It really deflates their ego to the get "Who is this?" text I have found.

They know girls like to recycle their numbers so they don't seem too slutty.

Even know he doesn't get it that I have no interest in being with him, he still thinks I'm like head over heels in love with him, and frankly, I'd love to be friends but he's a D-bag and I don't want to even be around him until he's ready to be JUST friends... he's not, he'd totally still try to fuck me if I saw him so no thanks. I am SO sending a "who is this?" text to the ex next time he texts me... he usually sends one every 6 weeks or so.

If you OBVIOUSLY have history with somebody, they're not gonna get it and think, "welp! she doesn't remember my name!" They're going to think, "Aw that's cute, I affected her so much that she even removed me from her phone, so she wouldn't slip and call me.." I think not deleting pictures and keeping numbers, etc. more so communicates a message of sanity and indifference (rather than hurt, anger, or fear). Anyone with me on this?

I always see it like this...if I am sleeping with a dude outside of a relationship that's all they will ever be is a fuck buddy and once I lose interest I won't go back or even consider them as a boyfriend. I may of liked them at first but usually there is some cue to me subconsciously that always lets me know nothing can come of this so I have my non attached fun. There is no point to having feelings with a fuck buddy and hoping that they will see you as a girlfriend. If yall are truly friends it can really be fun hooking up or not but yall are friends and the possibility of jealously and all that other shit gets pushed to the side.
