Some doctors will just throw drugs at people. You didn't answer if this was your family doctor or a psychiatrist. If it's an old doctor (as in
you've been their patient for a while) maybe you can gauge what they seem to be like, how much you trust them. In my experience it's rare for a
psychiatrist to NOT prescribe meds, but they are more knowledgeable about psychiatric drugs and are more likely to find what's right fast and know what is
mostly likely to be helpful given your symptoms.

In most western countries, including the U.S., licensed/registered psychologists hold a doctorate in their field, while licensed psychiatrists hold a medical
degree with a specialty in psychiatry. Psychiatrists are physicians who have earned an MBBS/M.D. or a D.O. professional degree, whereas psychologists have
earned a doctoral degree Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. Psychiatrists generally spend shorter periods of contact time with clients/patients, and the principal method
of treatment is psychopharmacology.
Shrink: Talk to you for long periods of time. Psychiatrist: Writes the prescription based off of your high or low dopamine or serotonin levels. |

They shouldn't but talk to your doctor. I'm on meds for mental illness and it doesn't interfere with my BC.

Yes. You are making some big steps to get better. If no one else says it I am proud of you even tho I don't know you. It's a scary time to but you
wanna get better so do what you gotta do. I love hearing about people trying to make steps to feel better instead of trying to ignore it.

doctor's visit. I was suicidal and checked myself into the friggin' psych ward when I was 15. |

I go to individual and group therapy. It's so helpful for me. I also see a psych doctor who regulates my medication. I seriously don't know what
I'd do without this "team" to support me.
