Yes, Scientologists try to come into the college where I work and 'recruit' students and staff quite regulary as well as trying to demonstrate in the
town square..and they usually end up being arrested

Well, they're not a religion per se, at least according to the spiel they gave us all and the movie they made us watch when I went to an acting class at
the Celebrity Centre years and years ago. They claim religious status so they don't have to pay taxes, but I was in the class, and they say that members of
all/any religion(s) can be Scientologists because it's a philosophy and a way of life. Their teaching is actually sound, just too bad their approach is
spectacularly fucking creepy.

Occasionally when I'm walking in NYC, someone will ask if I'm interested in attending a meeting. I always respond with, "Can you introduce me to
Tom Cruise?" I know it's juvenile, but at least they go away
