I find Scientology very creepy... but it's true enough that the line between cult and religion is pretty ill defined and subjective.

I hate when people don't realize that people can be Catholic for example and still be a Scientologist.

I hate when people don't realize that people can be Catholic for example and still be a Scientologist. Really? I know you can do that with Kabbalah, but I thought Scientology came with its own creation story/dogma etc? Seems like with at least some religions they'd be fairly irreconcilable? |

Anonymous is not protesting against Scientologists, or the belief in Scientology. What Anonymous is protesting against is the Corporation of Scientology, and
their illegal and immoral practices. We protest against the organization, not the belief. If you don't think an organization that has it's ultimate
goal of world domination (seriously), has an armed military force, is responsible for deaths, runs concentration camps for it's "unruly" members,
coerces abortions in senior staff members, has an official policy that critics must be "sued, injured, lied to, and destroyed", infiltrates
goverments, and bilks it's members out of their life savings is not an organization that needs to be taken down, then something is wrong with you.
The Church of Scientology hurts people. The Church of Scientology destroys families. The Church of Scientology kills. Whether you believe in Xenu, Jesus, Mohammed or The Flying Spagetti Monster is inconsequential. Anonymous thinks people are free to believe how they choose. As soon as those beliefs end in murder, suicide, forced abortions and work camps, it's time to stand up and say that that is not okay, and it must stop. This is why we protest. |

says it all. The video is of Jason Beghe, who was in GI Jane and Thelma and Louise. He is David Duchovny's long time best friend, and he also grew up with John F Kennedy Jr they went to school together. He was in scientology ten years or so, and finally got out. This video explains it all. |

i think anonymous is helpful in bringing a lot of pressure and attention to scientology
Basically until the internet, a lot of information about them was hidden. Much of what you pay for in scientology is treated like sorority secrets, you have to pay money for courses that slowly reveal the basis of the "religion", which was made up by l ron hubbard who used to write sci fi novels. Someone figured out that in order to get through the scieno courses it costs around 1/2 million dollars. And they make you buy a course in total before you go through it. So when people quit, the money stays in the church. Former church members who leave are starting to sue for fraud and to get their money back. Again the internet is helpful in this because more information is out there for ex-scienos. |

Isn't it because they're afraid of what the scientologists will do to them?
