because I always got paranoid I wasn't registered. And now I registered to vote at least a month ago and I still haven't gotten my card. I'm
getting paranoid again!

I got two cards the first time I moved, one card last year, and I just got another card last week. I don't know what the hell they are doing or why I need
so many cards.

When I got my license about three weeks ago, the lady at the DMV asked if I wanted to register to vote. I said yes and she said that they will be sending me
something in the mail soon, but I haven't gotten it yet.
I
don't know how long it's supposed to take to arrive, though.

What you need to bring with you to vote on Election Day varies by state. However, off hand, I cannot think of a single state that requires you to bring your
voter registration card. Info on what you need to bring with you to vote can be found on your state's election website. Links to all the state websites can
be found in this thread: http://jjb.yuku.com/topic/375388
Some state election websites have an online look-up form to see if you are registered. Additionally, you can call your state or county elections department and ask. You can also call any of the campaigns in your state and ask as they should all have access to a regularly updated voter file. Again, links for all states here: http://jjb.yuku.com/topic/375388 Typically, it takes 3-6 weeks (average of about 4 weeks) to receive voter reg confirmation in the mail, if they send you one at all. Also, for those of you worried about voting, do early voting or absentee voting. Info about each and what you can do in your state is all in this thread: http://jjb.yuku.com/topic/375388 |

They last time I tried to vote it was a disaster. I had my card and everything and I went to my polling place and they said I wasn't registered. They
couldn't find my name on the list! I was like, no, I am registered, look at my card. But they wouldn't let me vote because I wasn't on the list.
They wouldn't even give me a provisional ballot! They moved on to next in line. I happened to look down at the table with all the info on it and I saw
another stack of papers under some lockbox. And that stack of paper was a list of names and it had my name on it! The only reason I saw my name is that my last
name starts with an A and it was on the first page. I was like, there's my name, right there! And then I got to vote. And they didn't even apologize.
Still makes me angry. And I think about other people who might have been turned away because they didn't bother to pick up the second list.

Showmeyoursoul wrote:Holy shit! This is partly why I am so adamant about people volunteering to be poll workers. We need better and new people to do that job. What state do you live in? If you can, do early voting or absentee voting (early voting is the better option) - you shouldn't have any problems voting that way. And the great thing about early voting is that the locations almost always include county elections offices - so if there is a problem, it can be resolved right then and there. |

I live in PA. I want to vote on voting day because I'll be around and it's more exciting, you get the I voted sticker and you can be late for work!
Haha. I'm just so excited. I should put all my nervous energy into canvassing

In North Dakota you don't have to register! Just need a driver's license or ID!

This reminds me that I need to file for my absentee ballot. They make it so difficult, I've got to print some shit off and mail it to them. In this day and
age, why can't I just do it over the Internet?

I just looked it up, there's class you have to take and they pay you 25 dollars and for the actual election day they pay you 100 dollars but you have to
stay the whole election day. hell i might look into it.
