I don't think this is about religious beliefs. I think this is about equality. No on 8!
It makes me sick that the Yes on Prop 8 site has

Why is so hard to see that I have not denied anyone of their opinions, have not thrown around insulting comments, been honest and respectful, been
misquoted/misinterpreted/blatantly ignored regarding some things, and have not judged anyone, but was still told to basically take my ideas and go jump off a
cliff (as long as it's still in Texas)? I mean, come one. Where was the harm?
I've seen blatantly disrespectful, immature, arrogant, and judgmental responses leading to people getting trashed - most of the time because they provoked people, but I refrained from all of that kind of talk - and evidently stayed up until 3AM. Anyway, I'm just someone y'all don't see eye-to-eye with. I guess sometimes people can see past differences and have discussions and such... it just wasn't possible tonight. And, yes, I will agree it's about equality. Religion is just the basis of MY views, which have no relation to the law. |

I'm sorry but I can't respect anyone who would want to oppose equality, especially something as harmless as marriage. If atheists can 'marry,'
why not homosexuals? Man and woman...heh...it's those same man and woman in the %50 bracket of divorces that's ruining the sanctity of marriage.

I was raised Catholic and still believe in certain aspects of Christianity, but whole-heartedly disagree with everything these people are saying And for those people that think that being homosexual is living in sin, please turn your attention to the existence of groups such as the KKK, who claim to base their practices on Christianity but have killed and continue to kill innocent people because of aspects of their existence that are completely out of their control. Is that not living in sin? And before you say that homosexuality is a choice, turn your attention to the endless mound of neuroscience research being performed that gives you plenty of evidence that it is not.War, itself, is a sinful act. Every time you disobey your parents, you have committed a sin. Eating past the point of being full is a sin. I could seriously go on and on, but I'm getting frustrated |

Just against homosexual acts... oh, but not the homosexuals who may or may not perform them, because that would be wrong.

I just read every single post in this thread, there is a LOT I would like to address, but I am soooo tired. If it's still going strong tomorrow, I'll discuss it then. heart affair wrote:I do want to reply to this though. Shouldn't that be the point for everyone? No relation to the law? |

She isn't going to vote yes, but she isn't going to vote no, either. Apparently her choosing not to participate in these decisions means she supports
social equality.

You know, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I rather she just not participate than go against her beliefs or jeebus forbid, go for her
beliefs.
