Oh my goodness. Crazy question but was he conscious when it happened? I can't imagine someone being awake seeing his insides coming out.

Yes, he was awake. It happened because he went to sit up. He just kept saying "That's uncomfortable!"

Yes, after surgery, he just got his staples out today. I didn't want to go into too much detail, but yes.
