To be fair, when I was born I don't even think my name was in the top 20 and now it's been #1 since 2000 or something. SO when I'm in a store and
see a mom SCREAMING "EMILY!!!!!!!" I get scared

I picked out these names one day suddenly. I do not know why & I never want children.

Yeah, my sister had a fairly unusual name until the late 90s, thus dashing my hopes of ever naming my daughter after her (Samantha).
I love when I hear someone say "Sophia! Oh, that's so unusual and old-fashioned!" Except, not really anymore. |

And my sister had a really common name and no one even is named Jennifer anymore
I love the name Diana, and never hear that name anymore. But, bottom line is I want to name my kids something they won't be embarrassed about at 40. |

I had a whole list but I lost it! The only ones I can remember right now are Sayre, Isabelle, Kennedy, Raleigh. I like guy names that sound regal. Love last
names for first names.
My boyfriend loves the name Aiden. It's all he wants. I kind of hate it. But I promised him that I would give one of my children's middle name Moonbeam. |

But see I hated that my name was Carol because I never knew another Carol in school. Plus, it sounds so plain and waspy

Kenji is pretty. Is it short for something?

No offense, but Carol reminds me of a 100 y/o woman!
I was the only Emily in my school until HS, where there were about 4 others. Now, there will probably be 4 in each classroom! |

It does, spaz. My name frigging peaked in the 40s. I hear carol and think old lady. Thanks mom and dad!
I was named after my grandma who is named Carolina (not pronounced like
the states).

Like Caroleena? That's pretty! I like Caroline, too, but I named a bitchy character Caroline when I was in HS, so I'd never do that to a kid.

Ah, that makes sense. My friend's daughters' names are Adjani and Scarlett, both of which I think are pretty awesome names.

Yeah, mupp. Caroleena.
I could have dealt with that! But nooo my
parents wanted me to have a more american sounding name.

Well, take heart in knowing your name is not the very symbol of androgyny.
