When I was little a friend of ours, her baby's father slammed his head into the corner of a coffee table. Derek died and it was seriously horrible! The cow of a mother ended up marrying him anyway! Upon examining his body they found that he'd suffered repeated abuse and probably wouldn't have lasted much longer than he did. Our Priest on base was a good friend of my mother's and did his funeral and it took so many men to restrain Father Greg when the father showed up! That poor child! Seriously these children!

And all the CPS [or whatev] and Doctors, staff, etc., need to face some serious repercussions for what they allowed to continue, or somehow overlooked. Stories like this just break my heart. It's a BABY, a defenseless child and anyone who can hurt one needs to go DIAF. I'm sure other prisoners will see to it - child [and animal] abuse is NOT taken lightly by others in the system.

I mean these people are supposed to look after the welfare of these children who are abused, right? How many other children are being overlooked during this process?? I can't stop thinking about this after reading it, and it's kinda haunting me...

He did show up with bruises/scrapes but they believed the mother when she said he was accident prone, I don;t think they got to see him much.

The unfortunate reality is that it occurs wayyyy more often than you'd like to believe. Especially as of late in rough economic times. I can't tell you the number of children that are left at home for days by themselves or just left home on a daily basis by themselves because parents can no longer afford child care. That's when accidents happen and children get severely injured. They are the hardest cases for me to deal with because they are children. You want to just scoop them up and give them all the love you have.
