In the words of Chaucer, "Love is the most beautiful disaster, it is bemoaned as much as it is desired"
Or something like that.... |

I think love is wanting the best for someone other than yourself, and putting that person ahead of yourself, if that makes sense. When you love someone, their
happiness means more to you than your own because that happiness in turn makes YOU happy.

"Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own
interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes
all things, endures all things." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

I think that's a dumb assignment. No one throughout history has been able to truly define love. Why would anyone in your class be able to do it in 2 pages?

In medieval times it was believed that love was an illness that drove men to madness. First it attacked the eyes through sight then it attacked the brain , an
then the rest of the body.
At least this is what I can remember from medieval lit. |

There are 23948234 different kinds of love and then love that is much more than love and doesn't have a word. I'd either have to sum it up in two
general sentences or write a philosophical work on it.
I'd boycott my professor for such a topic to have to write on. |

I remember watching something on TV where they said the emotions you feel from being in love is kind of like the rush you get when you do coke (the same
chemicals in the brain). That's why when people break up and they're in love, they go crazy.

First off, I think of romantic love as a completely seperate entity than just "love" in general.
Romantically: I think true love is the unselfish kind. Where you do care more about the happiness of the other person. You're mutually trying to make the other person happy, not just make yourself happy. Putting their happiness above your own. You are happy simply because the other person is. It is being humble to another person. It's companionship, but on a different level than just a friendship, but at the same time, it's the ultimate friendship between two people. It's contentment, it's comfort. comfort for me is a huge part of it, I simply cannot imagine a feeling more comfortable than being in the room with my guy. I always say that I feel "home" with him. Like... when you go on vacation, and you're gone for two weeks, and you've slept in maybe the most luxurious, comfortable bed you can imagine, but you come home, and you crawl into your own bed, and it is the most amazing feeling ever, that's him. |
