I want to go try it out, but do they have something you can order for a family? The things I saw where for two people. I want to take my three kids, but
don't want to pay $20 a piece or something for them.

Bump because I know someone has eaten there.

They have individual entrees too, but they're all around $20. If you order fondue it's like $15. That serves 1-2 people, and they charge you $7 for
each extra person. At least that's the pricing for the one near my house.

don't waste your money on the entree. just eat a regular dinner and go to melting pot for dessert.

I agree with that. $15 is too much money for a pot of melted cheese. The desserts are really the only thing worth eating.

What I was thinking about was getting "The Big Night Out" or something like that and then everyone sharing it. I didn't know if they would let us
do that. My kids age from 6-10 so I can't see buying something individual for all of them.
Do you guys think that would be worth it? I never thought about going somewhere else and then eating dessert there. |

I don't know if they'll let you share the meal. You really don't get that much for for it to be enough for extra people. When I went, it took us at
least 2 hours to have dinner because it takes so long to cook and eat. I think it's going to be pretty expensive no matter how you do it and it's not
really best place to take kids.

The Melting Pot is more for adults. It's a long process (takes 2+ hours to get through the meal), and I doubt your kids will want to sit through all that.
If you're married, or have a bf or whatever, just the 2 of you should go and leave the kids at home. You'll enjoy it more. |

And I disagree with everyone saying that the dessert is the only good thing. I think it's just the overall experience that makes it worth it. It's just
something different/fun that you don't get anywhere else. I think the food is fine. Obviously it's not going to be some crazy nice gourmet meal (I mean
all it is is meat and/or seafood), but it's just a good time. I enjoyed myself at least.

I really liked it when I went but I agree it's not the ideal place for kids. Better for couples or like a girls night out with 4 girls.

You're better off buying a fondue pot and just making stuff at home. I wasn't impressed by anything there... even the desserts.

Thanks guys. I don't want to torture my kids (or me and my husband) by trying to make them sit through a 2 + hr meal. I just thought it would be fun but I
think I might look into something else.

It might be fun (and a lot cheaper!) to do something like go to a Mongolian grill where they can pick out their own food and sauces and then watch it get
cooked on those round circular grills.
If they have a Benihana near you, that could be fun too! |

Don't take your kids. That would be a waste. It's a place to have a nice long dinner with good conversation.

rachaelthinksbeesareokay wrote: That was my other option and it would work out better because we have one local. To go to the Melting Pot we were going to have to drive for 2 1/2 hrs but we have family in that town so we were going to visit there also. We have a place called Kobey's Steak House that does the hibachi grill thing at your table and I know the food is really good there. Is Benihana's a grill at your table type of restraunt or something else? |

Benihana is great for kids. And yes, they cook the food in front of you.

I've never heard of Benihana but I will check them out. If we don't have a local one, maybe they will have one around our families' city. The
Kobey's here isn't really set up for kids but they would enjoy it.

The Melting Pot in Denver has 2 nights a week that kids eat free. You just have to call and ask what nights. My 12 year old loved it, but my 8 year old
wasn't impressed.

I love the Melting Pot. But not for kids. Go with friends. It takes like a good 2-3 hours to enjoy a meal

Not only does the meal take a long time but you're cooking food in hot oil with skewers... I'm not sure it's the best activity for a 6 year old.
