DoesThatSparkle wrote:That's exactly why she should have kept it to herself. You never know. It's none of her business to comment on anyway. And who asks if a kid is special ed, whether they are or aren't? Would it be okay to call a kid "special ed" even if he wasn't in special ed? No.
In the OP's defense, when she made her weird mumble comment she didn't KNOW he was blind. Good lord....some of you are acting like she knew he had a disability and said what she said anyway. I don't fault her for what she said (since she didn't know), I fault her for actually mumbling to herself (about anything) in public lol.
So I had a major Fuck My Life moment

Stop Beating Me
xxx Dead Horse I did not know I said it out loud until the mother said "Excuse Me?" and DoesThatSparkle it's not uncommon for people to say out loud something that's meant to be a private thought. I mean haven't you been in a grocery store and heard someone mumble/speak under their breath "Oh, I forgot (insert whatever they forgot)" I have heard people speak under their breath many times. JulieAnne, people don't need to learn anything, we are free to say just about any and every thing we want. You should just be prepared to deal with the consequences. Now, believe me I could have gotten super indignant and ignorant, but I knew I was wrong and I can take it just as well as I give it. That mother had every right to get upset with me. But I can't take people like Nluva4eva and all her retarded glory seriously when she claims to be so offended yet wishing for physical violence from the safety of her computer. |

I'm glad you didn't get indignant and ignorant. But people really do have a lot to learn, and I don't mean you specifically. That's just a generalization. |

DoesThatSparkle wrote:I agree with this. It isn't like she started moaning to a deaf person in front of her. She didn't know he was blind. Had she known, she probably wouldn't have made the comment either. And she apologized. And feels bad about it. She probably doesn't need 50 bajillion people telling her what horrible human being she is. |

I am always so baffled when people say they didn't realize they said something out loud until it was too late. Come the fuck on.
That said, that's some shit I would get myself in to. |

Yes, because I was the only one that was saying you were wrong. I was just the first and people keep quoting me. And when I replied, it was before you shared
the fact that you thought you were saying it in your head.
but still, I work with kids who have special needs (and this isn't me trying to be holier than thou) and they and their parents deal with a lot of stuff every day and I just feel like it's rude to say something like that to anyone (regardless of whether or not they are "special ed"). I get it, everyone thinks un-pc things from time to time but it just bothers me when its something like that about a cihld. I get it, you didn't mean to say it outloud, everyone makes mistakes but I'm just saying you deserved the reaction that you got. If I were that kids mother I would've been pissed too. Whatever, that's me. and my comment about wishing she would've fought you was meant to be taken somewhat jokingly, but whatever..

You don't understand all of the staring, making fun of and random BS that us as parents have to deal with on an every day basis. Imagine that the person you love the most in the world was thrown defenseless into a pack of wolves. She may have been overly sensitive, but it stems from dealing with ignorance day in and day out. To the OP, it sucks that happened. I hope that you were able to apologize to her. |
