There are alot of places to go in LA, but some of the places are so spread out. Get ready to drive.
I went to SF for a weekend trip and we got Chinatown, Union Square, Little Italy, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge (and boat tour) done in 1 day. The second day we rented bikes and rode them up to the Golden Gate Bridge. We didn't have a car, so we took the BART, walked, and cable car'd it the whole weekend. It was tiring and painful the next day (so sore!) but well worth the trip. I live in LA so I might just be biased towards visiting other places, but if you plan what you want to see beforehand, you'll have an enjoyable trip! |

I didn't think San Fran was all it was cracked up to be.

When are you planning on going? San Francisco is pretty cold during the summer. It's a pretty city, though. You can do all the things in RaWrr's post,
plus if you have time you can go to Muir Woods to see the redwoods, go across the bay to Sausilito, or even take a trip to Sonoma to see the wine country.
LA has Hollywood and all the studio tours, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Disneyland, or you can take a day trip to San Diego. |

I had a great time in SF last year. I spent a week there, so things were a bit more spread out for me, but I went to Chinatown, Union Square, the Wharf, Baker
Beach, the park in Sausalito (across the bridge) Golden Gate Park?, Alamo Square, Haight & Ashbury (went to Amoeba Records), tracked down the houses from
Full House and Mrs. Doubtfire (

i personally was leaning more towards la but my cousin keeps saying sf. i expect the driving for socali, but not much for san francisco, correct? for some
reason, i'd prefer to go to sf during the fall. i don't know why. lols. and san francisco seems like another nyc. and i'm from jersey, which is why
i have mixed feelings about it, if that makes any sense.
