Agh...I dont even know where to start..my friend told me to make a checklist...but I dont even know where to start with that. My mind is all ...yes all of those. And im stressed out. Please any advice would be grateful. Thank you

Posts: 7477 (06/01/2009 10:58 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I flew out alone and had professional movers bring my stuff including furniture, clothes, etc. I have pets so I used a pet service to fly them to me once I found an apartment. I'm trying to remember how much the movers cost and I think it was around $500. Your friend is right. Make a check list or at least print one out off the web. The checklist should cover everything from disconnecting the utilities in your apartment/home, forwarding your mail, and switching banks if needed.

Posts: 68 (06/01/2009 10:59 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I moved from PA to CA (LA) ---and then back and then back again..lol shipped my car - around 1,000, arrived in 5-7 days and they left it at my friend's house for me to pick up shipped my stuff - fedex ground - they shipped everything except my mattresses which i sent via ups but it wound up being the same if i bought new ones so i wouldn't suggest that. i shipped around 45-50 boxes with the heaviest being around 45 lbs and it was just under 2,500 then i booked a flight on usairways and enjoyed the inflight movie =)

I moved cross-country (NJ to CA) with literally a few suitcases and nothing else - I bought everything I needed in California. Then I moved back (CA to NJ) and shipped my car (about $1000) and packed a few extra suitcases. I tried to sell everything else I had rather than ship it (too expensive) but ended up shipping a few things. I used uship.com which I didn't know much about but really lucked out. shippers bid on shipping your stuff at the lowest price. But you MUST be flexible about when you need the stuff delivered. Hope that helps.

Though I used a service that shipped my things with other people's at the same time so it was a bit cheaper. I think it ended up costing about $1500. I had pets, two cats, that we took on the plane with us.
