Anyone else think that the way Robert did Edward's wide-eyed looks and stares made his character that much more believable? It seriously made the movie in
my opinion. All his vampire looks, his concerning stares and deep, intense gazes. I just can't picture anyone else playing that part, and I heard some of
the Twilight "book" fans were pissed at first when he was chosen as Edward.

And I agree. No one else could play Edward. IMPO. I saw Rob's face before I even knew who Rob was, in my mind, when I read the Twilight Saga Series. He was perfect. From the jaw line, to the hair, to the eyes, to that pouty, perfect mouth. PERFECTION. |

I agree with the looks rpatz attributed to edward..at times they were scary fierce, at other wayyy intense, and some almost innocent. He brings such emotion
the part, I can't wait to see him in that Remember Me film. I wonder who will be cast as the female lead. I wish it was Kris. hahaha. In lieu of that,
I'd say...anyone but scarjo and nat portman.

Yay missd! You did it,
To go on with the discussion - Yeah I find Rob is perfect for the role of Edward because while he is INSANELY good looking, it's somewhat unusual and ethereal. His looks aren't standard "all-american" or whatever they call it, good looks and that's why not everyone is attracted to him/finds him attractive. I agree, it's a combination of his hair (which is so damn perfect), his eyes (he can pull off the contacts), the jawline, his lips, and even his body frame. He is pretty but not too pretty (Chace Crawford/Zac Efron) and he's masculine, but not TOO masculine, bulky and brute. Just like when there was talk about casting, that the guys that auditioned were too black and white, there wasn't a combination of beauty and brawn. He pulls the pain off extraordinarily well; his choice to make Edward so tortured is what made the role. Although there are light sides to Edward, he's very intense and has many internal demons he's facing. Rob made Edward a believable character, when another actor could have easily made him a joke, a laughable cliche of a man/vampire. In a movie where you are playing a VAMPIRE, you need to connect to your audience somehow, and he does. Him and Kristen have the opportunity to make their characters very real and/or relatable. While Rob made Edward a character that could possibly exist in our minds, I don't feel that Kristen made Bella someone that was as relatable. Granted, on her behalf, the writing didn't really explore Bella. Stephenie's theory to make Bella the 'every girl' kinda backfired on her because she's a very 2D character (well from what I can tell, I haven't read all the books yet, but I have read what happens). Bella comes off as a defenseless, pathetic excuse for a woman half the time - which makes the perfect damsel in distress, but alienates the possibility for anyone to relate or learn from her. She 'needs' Edward, then she can't live without Jacob. You don't always have someone to lean on in life, and that's where Bella lost me. Whoa sorry I got into a major tirade there, just sharing my thoughts, |

k baybee wrote:Agreed, he was definaltly perfect for the role of Edward, don't think anyone could have done it better. The way he looked at Bella like he wanted to eat her, was what I had pictures while reading the book. Than at other moments he had such softness in his eyes but yet with so much pain. His body movements on how he touched her knowing he could kill her. The Edward in the book came to life on screen, thanks to Rob!!!! |
