I'm going with my boyfriends mom and want to take a respectable gift. I'm leaning towards gift card but what fun is that?!

I should just take a gift card then, right? |

I'm invited to a baby shower for my boyfriend's brother's girlfriend where the invitation states the "theme" as dinosaurs and pebbles
flintstone and the registry is bizarre. It includes mostly disposable diapers (6 different sizes, different brands, same items listed over and over again),
some random winnie the pooh stuff including a wooden trash can and fleece blankets, 2 different wipes warmers, a size 12 months swim suit, a size newborn
winter coat (baby is due early september), several different diaper bags, 3 or 4 different swings, some "learn to read" books and toys designed for
older children, tons and tons of wipes, and a few random unnecessary nursery decorating items in a variety of colors and themes. None of the regular onesies
and crib sheets, and nothing to do with dinosaurs! WTF. I'm very confused!

but a giftcard tucked inside a congrats card would be easier. let them get all the stuff they won't need for a while.

How about get a few backs of onesies? I always do that if I don't know the person well because you can never have too many of those

Jenna you should see these registries, though what I listed is pretty much it!! The girl is only 16 (17?) so I understand she doesn't know what she needs
but her mom helped her with it! They are both morons!

If her registry is that funky I wouldn't trust her with a gift card
My cousin had a registry like that and I knew she had no idea what she needed (her Mom is an idiot too) so I went to WalMart and made a gift basket for under $50 that ended up being pretty nice. I got a child's laundry basket and filled it with a receiving blanket, baby laundry detergent, shampoo, nighttime calming baby soap, regular baby soap, baby lotion, a package of baby washcloths, a baby towel, a "travel set" that included small sizes of baby shampoo, baby soap, wipes, a changing pad, and plastic bags to dispose of diapers in, diaper cream, and lotion, and bought a teddy bear to make it cute |

That sound adorable! I've been lucky so far and the registries have been full of necessary items.

The basket is an awesome idea. I couldn't tell for sure if she didn't think she needed those typical things or maybe her mom had already gotten her a
lot of stuff like that? I doubt it though. They both really are dumb. I want to know what the dinosaur theme is all about.

The basket idea is an awesome one, and also if she said she wanted diaper bags, do the same thing, with diapers and wipes and suckies, and also the kit with
all of the necessities like aspirator, medicine spoon, thermometer, and nail clippers, get some towels, and stuff like that to fill a diaper bag... I did that
with a good friend of mine, and she was so pleased and she didn't thnkof the nail clippers and aspirator.
Good luck and have fun. |

Seriously I'd do a basket/diaper bag with stuff in it that you know she'll need. Common sense stuff that they apparently have no idea about.

Did she just go around the store and say "oh that's cute I need it" and not think about the baby?

I guess! The size 12 months swimsuit is what really gets me. Next summer the baby will possibly need a swimsuit I suppose but.. get one then??
