The spotlight on the mic without the artist behind it really broke me.
I grew up knowing Michael's music and always was a fan. But as I grew older, I think what really drew me to him was him as a person - his human side really touched me. You could see his pureness about him and around him. He always seemed like an individual to me who just truly wanted to spread love and kindness and to embrace the world. He wanted to do for others what was not done for him. I didn't always agree with his choices but it was always clear to me how genuine he was, how innocent and pure of a soul he had. He genuinely wanted to do good for the world. He wanted to change the world for the better and I believe he did that. As much as I love his music and his artistry, what I really am endeared to was the man behind it and what he stood for. The only person who I can imagine would have this type of impact on the world, with this type of worldwide attention and coverage on his/her funeral, was Princess Di. And of course, she had the same kind of farewell. She & MJ both were 2 individuals of a dying breed, wanting to spread love and joy and goodworks around the world. I found them both inspirational. They both had their problems and scandals, but to me without a shadow of a doubt they had the biggest of hearts and sweetest of souls. Go celebrate Michael by doing something nice for someone today. Give back to your community. |

Those kids are beautiful, God bless them. The memorial was really nice. It was very well done, so organized, and very calm. I was crying all the way through
it, but then when Paris spoke, forget it. I just lost it.
That broke my heart.

Shunda84 wrote: Michael was taken from us so soon, but there is a reason why God took him into his kingdom now instead of later. And I think it's for the reason you mentioned. Michael was always about making the world a better place, but we seem to continue to live in turmoil and hatred across the world. Sometimes it takes a tragedy for something good to happen. Maybe this is why it was Michael's time. Maybe the world will truly start to heal and we will truly start to "love thy neighbor". Marlon even touched on this about us finding out why Michael had to go so soon. I think we WILL know. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But we WILL learn soon enough. |

Damn....the male anchor on MSNBC just totally took the Editor from In Touch to task about whether or not they'll pay $10K for pictures of the kids getting
ice cream in a few months after she got done of talking about how the kids need privacy.

Overall, this it was much better (I'm somewhat ashamed to admit) than I thought it would be. As someone who isn't religious I thought it was a bit too
much of a church revival at times, BUT I can understand how those messages were important to his family and others watching.
And I never thought I'd say this, but I really liked Al Sharpton's speech, esp. the bit where he told the kids "There's nothing strange about your daddy. He had to put up with strange things." Or something like that. I thought it was one of the most beautiful sentiments I've ever heard about Michael.

I still think his children look like him...got some of his features (before surgery). Paris made me cry the hardest. I know what its like to lose a dad.
His caskey was beautiful and I'm glad they had it closed in the
public memorial.

I think they still want to bury him at Neverland but have all the legal issues to deal with, CNN said something about temporarily having him at Forestlawn.
