My mom and stepfather are taking a cruise and my stepfather keeps arguing that they should leave the house at around 2:00 - 2:30 which puts them at the port at
the earliest 3:30 for a 5:00 cruise. I'm trying to tell her not to trust what my asshole stepfather says because I'm sure there will be traffic and
it's not like you can just hop another ship. I tried to google and it really didn't say anything definite.
Cruise people - how early do you arrive at the ship?

Ughhhh that is way too late. Homeland security requires most people to be onboard before 3:30 because of rules.
I would definitely aim for noon. You can have lunch on the ship so why not? I've been onboard as early as 11:30 am when I've go on cruises that left @ 4 pm. |

my parents made us leave like 7 hours early (3 hour car ride) so we were there 4 hours early-ish I think and not even first in line

I think we got to the ship around 1pm. We were able to eat lunch on board and sit on the deck, the rooms didn't open up until we set sail I think but you
can still walk around anyways.
The good thing about being early is there are no lines...around 3ish the lines looked like a really long wait. |

That's way way too late. You have to be on board an hour before the ship leaves. I would say for them to get on board around noon, that's when we got
on our ship a few weeks ago. It gave us time to eat lunch and explore.

What cruiseline are they doing? Royal Caribbean or Carnival? Because I know Carnival definitely is one hour before sailing you have to be on. Never sailed RC.

You have to go hours before. We got there around 12:30 for a 4pm launch and got in early as the first group to board. At around 3 I could see outside from our
balcony and there were mounds of lines backed up.
There's a lot of security to go through. |

I didn't even know you could have lunch on board. I went on a cruise last year and we got there by 1:30 and were in line for an hour and a half.

I had lunch on board too, all the food at the buffet and all the restaurants but the formal dining were opened once they started letting people board.
Before my luggage could be delivered I had cookies and liquor.

They're going with Carnival. I figured they had to be there at least an hour before but I couldn't actually find where it said that.
