Regarding that is marriage a dealbreaker thread- I think its more acceptable now (maybe?) to be in a long term relationship w/out ever getting married but how
do the kids feel? I don't think I know anyone whose parents were in a long term committed relationship & just never got married.

My parents had just started dating seriously when my mom got pregnant with me and they always stayed together, but didn't get married until I was almost 7.
They didn't want to rush things and get married just because of the pregnancy. It was always totally normal to me though even when I look back on it now.
ETA - Didn't realize you wanted the whole story  They got married when I was almost 7 (yes, I was the flower girl..I used to call it "our
wedding" lol), had my brother a year later, had my sister a year and a half after that, and they're still happily married. Their wedding anniversary
next month is only going to be their 17th, but they've been together 24 years. They did things a little backwards at first, but it all worked out pretty
perfectly

My parents were married then had her kids. I know many parents who were not married before having kids, however I have always thought it was the right thing
to do, getting married then having kids.

they were married for 33 years, until my mom died.

They've been together since they were 15 and 16.
They got married at 28 and 29. They had my oldest brother when they were 31 and 32. They've now been married 27 years. |

My parents have been together since they were 15. But my sister (4 years older) was a surprise. They got married 2 months after she was born. They celebrated
their 31st wedding anniversary this year and their 40th anniversary that they've been together.

My parents have been together since they were sixteen. Had me when they were 20. I'm now 26 and they are 47. Still together and never got married.
I can't say I feel much about the situation...I don't usually mention it to people. I figure I have two parents who are happy and together -- which is more than many people can say they have. So why question something that's worked for them the last 31 years

My parents never married. My dad died when I was like 7, and I really don't think they ever even planned on getting married at all even though they were

My parents were together for a little over a year and got married when I was 2. They've been together for 24 years, married for 20.
