I could never imagine delivering a baby without medication on a toilet in a dorm room my freshman year of college. That's just too much.

I know right? That happened to one of my friends though, back when I was in high school and I had never even heard of this happening to other people. She did
not look pregnant at all.

I hate that show too. I was watching it last night and just sat there like WTF. That girl gave birth to a baby on the toilet, and the cord was wrapped around
it's neck.
I don't understand how the second woman kept taking pregnancy tests (at home, and at the doctor), and they all came up negative. |

I just don't buy into some of those stories. Some are iffy. I mean, my sister didn't know she was pg for 16 weeks but then she started thinking she had
some weird gas bubbles, well yeah it was the baby flutters she was feeling. how can you go 9m without feeling ANYTHING not noticing your periods are gone or
very irregular, all the crazy strangeness that happens when you're pregnant. i'm not saying ALL aren't legit but some of those stories make me
raise my eyebrows.

Talise81 wrote:That happened to my cousin. She didn't know until about 4 months in because she has irregular, light periods, so she thought the breakthrough bleeding was her period, but then she thought she had stomach problems, and it turned out to be the baby moving. But, yeah, I can see not knowing for a few months because you have wacky cycles, and not everyone gets all of the early symptoms like morning sickness, but after about 4 months, come on! |

I think a lot of people that claim to not know they are pregnant are just in denial. Especially when you do not gain a lot of weight and carry the baby inwards
instead of outwards, its easy to just tell yourself that all the symptoms you are having are caused by something else.

If you've never been pregnant before and don't have a very active baby, I can see people just never having it cross their minds that they're
pregnant - particularly if they haven't displayed other symptoms. Weight gain is easily explainable, especially if it's not much weight gain, anybody
who has irregular periods probably isn't going to even blink at it until they've missed a good few... without there being the combination of obvious
symptoms, it's easy to write an individual one off.
I mean, if my stomach starts feeling weird and I've had no noticeable other symptoms, I'm not going to assume it's because I'm four months pregnant. I don't know many people who would |

The reenactments pretty much make the show. Some of the actors (especially the 'dads') are so bad

Have the people on the show never taken a pregnancy test?

Soundtrack For Our Movie wrote:Some of them have and they were negative. It can definitely happen if your hormone levels are too low for the test to pick up. It's rare, but it happens. Most women are aware that something's not right though and they get a blood test done. However, I can see how someone who doesn't show many symptoms and isn't trying to conceive + not keeping track of their cycles could just believe the negative home pregnancy test and not think about it twice. Also, I think that pregnancy tests tend to show negative if you test much later during pregnancy. I vaguely remember something about them generally working within the first few months only. |

I dated a guy in HS whose mother swears she had no idea she was pregnant with him. She said she never gained any weight and had her period every month, and
that one day she had a terrible stomachache and thought something was seriously wrong, so she went to the Dr. And he informed her that she was in labor. Crazy.
