No, cause people who have serious drug problems wouldn't be accepted anyway due to other reasons. So why make everyone feel even worse while trying to get
support.

Yes, but I don't think marijuana should count.

No. That's not going to keep people from using. It will only keep some people from being able to support themselves. I understand it could potentially
enable their habit as well, but it's not worth telling people "You have this problem, so we don't care if you live or die." If it were easier
to get into rehab it might be different, but waiting lists are INSANE in some places.
Not to mention it's just a little bit degrading. |

Only if they test everybody, not just poor people. We all know that people not on assistance do drugs too. lol. And before people get on the high horse about
tax dollars, let's not forget that your insurance is offered through their job in most cases.

No. Then youd have to drug test everyone for every kind of social service out there.

No, a lot of people on welfare have drug problems and we really can't discriminate for that. There are a lot of things that would be nice to control but
really...welfare is the last straw. What will they do if we don't help them?

Eh, I'm not too keen on the idea. In theory it sounds good, but like someone else said, then you would have to drug test for every social program out
there. And marijuana would most likely count against it, which would be absolutely ridiculous. And it would cost a shit load of money to drug test all these
people all the time, most of which would probably find ways to get around the test/cheat, so it would be pointless.
There should though, be TONS of other restrictions and stuff placed on the program. But that will never happen. |

My initial impression was to say yes, but can you imagine the expense of testing every welfare recipient multiple times a year? Our tax dollars at work.

Of course not!! What do you do then if they flunk? Deny them their welfare cheque? Then they have no money at all so they end up prostituting themselves or
robbing and killing people to get money. I don't like that taxpayers pay for some people to buy drugs with their money but drug testing them just costs
more money to find out something everyone already knows. Totally stupid and a waste of money.

It'd cost fuck knows how much and would probably wind up hurting those people's dependents more than them. People always find money for their drugs...
