I saw the ENT today. Nothing like an unplanned tonsillectomy to spoil your weekend!
Gah. I have to get my tonsils out Thursday.

How is the pain for him? This is a week before my 26th birthday so it's a total FML moment. However, this was the soonest appt they had and technically
when I turn 26 I'm off my dad's insurance...sooooo. No options.

The pain has been really bad for him (which is why he sleeps most of the time). I had mine removed when i was 12 but they say it's worse for an adult. i
can imagine he feels bad because i felt bad when i had mine removed. he says he can't even swallow his own spit.

I had mine removed when I was 18 it was horrible. I didn't eat solid food for two weeks...I only drank water.....horrible experience.

I need to get mine removed, but I keep putting it off. I've never had any kind of surgery before so thinking about it freaks me out. But my doctor is
really pushing me to do it. Ever winter I get strep throat really bad, and my tonsils (which are abnormally large to begin with) swell and block my throat so I
can't eat or take meds and end up with an IV.

Apparently I have the most raggedy tonsils this doctor has ever seen. And that I have more holes and crevices than anyone he's ever seen. Makes me SO
excited to have it. He said to me, "Might want to beef up your eating for the next few days because you're going to lose 15-20 pounds."
I lost 12 with this bout of strep and I haven't gained it back. |
