Posts: 6304 (07/31/2009 3:28 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	and surrounding areas. Am thinking of doing a bit of traveling at the end of the month... what are some things I should not miss? Thinking of stopping by the art festival in Edinburgh, and the Blarney Stone.... Also, how far is Manchester from London, and how would one get to London from there?

Posts: 12416 (07/31/2009 3:31 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I did the Edinburgh Tattoo last year, I was the youngest one by 40 years, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. In Edinburgh go on the free day tours around the city, also go on the night ghost tours (you can find the ones that are free, meeting point by the starbucks in the heart of the city, up from the fringe). Take in the Edinburgh Castle, oh and if you can do a day trip up to the Loch's and go on the Loch Ness Tour!!!!

Posts: 139 (07/31/2009 3:40 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Its about 180 miles to london from Manchester and in a car its like 4hours? Pretty easy to get there. If you are staying over in Edinburgh try and do a late night ghost walk, they take you down to some of the oldest dungeons in the city and the grave yards and tell really spooky stories, you go for a drink afterwards with the guide and the group you are with so its cool because you meet new people.

I'd recommend either the train or flying - if you shop around you can get some pretty cheap flights. As for places to go in England, obviously London's full of stuff, but I also think Oxford and Stratford Upon Avon are nice towns to go to. Obviously Oxford has all the old uni buildings etc, and Stratford has all the Shakespeare stuff. There are also plenty of interesting castles dotted around the countryside - Hampton Court isn't far out from London, I'd definitely recommend it

LOL Well, I don't know how long it takes to get to places like Belgium or the edge of France... but I'm open to any info.. I'd also like to visit Amsterdam if I have time. Wales is really beautiful -- it's full of sheep and farms and old castles. I'm glad I got to spend some time there!
