I'm desperate for a job and this place is paying $18 an hour. Is it worth it or will I want to kill myself filling out spreadsheets all day?

I do a lot of data entry but I also do other things as well. I also make less than that.
It really depends on what kind of data entry you're doing. Mine is all over the place so I get a change of pace a lot. But if you just have one where you're filling in forms all day and doing the same thing over and over again, yea, I'd probably want to shoot myself too. But then at $18 an hour, I'd definitely give it a shot for awhile. |

really? It's in New York. I've been looking at administrative and data entry positions this whole week and have yet to find compensation under $10.

Are you looking on Craigslist? Just watch out because if you are, a lot of the admin/data entry stuff on there is a scam.

I worked data entry in High School for an insurance company and I can't tell you how many trips to the bathroom I had to take to just close my eyes for 1
minute!! I was always very tired from it. We were allowed to listen to music in our cubicle but boy was it boring!! Easy, but boring! And I definitely made WAY
less than $18/Hr.

This was the posting:
Data entry clerks needed for full time/seasonal work. Multiple shifts available. Must have previous data entry experience and ability to type at least 10,000 keystrokes per hour. You will be tested and interviewed. Do not respond if you cannot meet these requirements. must have strong work ethic. Email with resume in body of email. Should I try it? |

Oh yea, you definitely need breaks. There's a lot of freedom at my job (which is why I love it and aren't in a normal working place) so I can get up
and do other things or get up and leave for awhile and no one asks questions. I'm still working, I'm just doing other parts of my job.
We can also get on the internet to look at things to give our minds a break. There are still days however I come home and don't even want to look at my computer. lol. |

It doesn't hurt to apply, but just watch out if they e-mail you back asking you to fill out all this information on another website to "apply."
Trust me, I've been applying to every admin/data entry job I can find and a lot of the stuff on Craigslist is just a scam to get you to give your credit
information (they say it's for a credit check) or to sign you up for some spam crap. There are some legit ones out there though, you just have to be
careful.
