Question though for those who've read it: Does he really die from being shot accidentally by his father-in-law while hunting? That's the part that I hated about the film.

And I thought it was alright. It definitely made me want to read the book though and without having read it, or knowing how similar/different it is from the
book, it seems like the plot works better as a novel. With that said, Eric Bana and Rachel were great together and Eric naked in many scenes=TERRIFIC;)

I saw this last night and I really liked it! Some parts were a little confusing because it jumped around so much, but it really made me want to read the book.
I'm curious how it compares.
And seriously, how is it fair that Rachel McAdams owns all the pretty in the world and not sharing any with me?! She's so beautiful. |

Yes, that's exactly how he dies in the book.

I loved the movie but it was definitely a PG-rated version of the book. I'm not even necessarily talking about all the sex in the book but they took out SO
MUCH of the really interesting (and sort of fucked up) stuff about the book!
Rachel McAdams is love though so she's probably why I enjoyed it so much lol |

I cried so much, it was disgusting. I felt like such a loser. I liked the book 100 times better, but the movie was great. |

I saw it tonight too and it was particularly sad in the last 40 minutes or so. But they tried to stick as much to the book as possible I thought.
Eric and Rachel were very good in their roles and I thought they had goo chemistry too. Altogether it was good movie. |

I just saw the movie. I liked it but didn't love it. I've read the book a few times and loooooove it, but it's hard to put a 500 page book into a
movie. The music in the movie made it that much more depressing I thought too. I dunno. I will say, it's nice to see a book I enjoy so much come to life.

I hate how they took out so many characters. Ingrid, Kimmy, Ingrid's gf (can't remember her name lol), Clare's bro Mike, more of Clare's Mom,
Mike's fiancee Sharon (who made me lol during the awkward Christmas scene in the book)...all of Clare's high school friends and that whole thing with
the dude that left that bruise on her.
Like I said I liked the movie but the more I think about it the more I feel like whoever adapted the book for the screen should DIAF. |

I pretty much hated. Too much "happy" compromising from the book to the screen...i feel like if something's going to be adapted, they they should
stick to the source material as closely as possible (unless they state otherwise that it's only "loosely based" on it). They took out too much,
and the ending, to me, wouldn't have made even a little sense if I hadn't read it and knew what was going on.
