Outback Menu Test

Posts: 1177 (08/14/2009 10:18 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Anyone ever worked at Outback and had to take the Menu test? My first shift is tonight and I have to take the test before I actually work... I'm nervous as hell. I test well, but it's a LOT to remember, and I'm afraid I'm gonna bomb. No one at the restaurant would tell me what happens if you fail. My mom and stepdad are flying in to see me this weekend and they're planning to come to Outback for dinner... It would be mighty embarrassing if I had to text my mom to tell her not to come to Outback because I bombed the test. Thoughts?

They would let you try again and have another training shift to study. If you know a majority of it it shouldn't be that bad. Plus, every restaurant I have ever worked in just sat you at a random booth while you took it so the servers always want to come over and see how your doing and help!

Its an awful lot to remember, but thankfully I'm good at memorizing and just made flashcards and got it all in my brain. I'm a trainer there and we'll let you take it over if you get under a 75% i think. I wouldn't stress too much...its a pain in the ass now but its so helpful when you actually know all of these things when you're serving by yourself. Good luck

Posts: 9036 (08/14/2009 11:15 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I worked for Carrabba's for a really long time as well, plus I was a bartender so I had to remember the drinks as well. Just try to visualize the dish you're talking about and memorize the number of items each one has. That way if you know you're trying to remember 6 ingredients, it may help you. And make flashcards like someone else said. Good luck!

Trust me, just the fact that you're preparing is a huge step. I used to train people who I don't even think glanced at the material and just put parsley down for every item. Horrible.
