Cool, good to know. Is that general policy or is Amazon a special case because they have really good customer service?
I'm pretty sure it's Amazon's general policy.
If UPS leaves a package outside your door and it gets stolen

^ No, I know that's what you meant. That's why I said Amazon's general policy. Though, I know Zappos has the same policy. Was your order from
Amazon? You can report it through the order status/tracking link on their page.

Wait, UPS ALWAYS makes me or a neighbor sign for packages. FedEx is the one who just drops shit off.

UPS and FedEx always just drop if off and run. By the time the doorbell is even done ringing they are usually back in their truck and off to the next stop.
Lol. Unless something is above a certain amount of value the shipper usually doesn't require a signature. Or if it's a legal (or other important)
document.
Imagine how much slower the UPS and FedEx guy would run if they had to wait for signatures on everything? No way! |

Yeah when my camera came back from repair it required a signature and they just randomly left it with my neighbor. Totally didn't even know her name until
that point and had to go get it which was awkward!

Whether or not UPS requires a signature is not up to UPS, it's up to the sender. Some senders require it, some don't. If a sender doesn't, UPS can
leave the package.

I got two cell phones shipped to me today and I was wondering the same thing. I was worried that some one was going to walk off with them. Luckily we have
columns on both sides of our entry way so they always place the boxes behind them.

Dayum Gina wrote: This is what I was going to say also. I work for an internet company and this is what we're told to tell our customer. The stuff that we send is high $$ stuff too and most times they are left without signature. The customer has to specifically ask for it to be signature required and most times UPS won't acknowledge that (in my 5 years that I have worked at this internet company at least). A lot of times UPS has a signature release on file that they go by and you may not even know it!! I know that if a package is stolen, an investigation is open with UPS and the driver has to go back out, blah blah blah. If it doesn't turn up within like 3 days, then a new package is sent and billed on tracers. |

I didn't read through all answers, but I know for a fact it isn't UPS' problem. If there was no signature required it is ok for them just to leave
it at your door. If it gets stolen, it is your problem.
