I've heard of people using dictionaries, soup cans, etc.
Weights are ideal, though. I use 2 lbs or 5 lbs weights. |

Use soup cans to start! (1lb each) You'll kill yourself if you start with 5lbs.

What do you do with the weights? I was going to go out and get 8 or 10 lb. weights. That's what I use at the gym for shoulder presses, bicep curls, tricep
kickbacks, etc.

When I first started, I got a decent workout using no weights or soup cans because I didn't feel like buying any.
I'm using 8 lb weights right now but I don't know if I'd recommend that to just anyone. I can lift a whole hell of a lot more than that at the gym and the 8lbs for the shred is a challenge. |

Thanks POProcks

I start shreding tomorrow. I only have ten pound weights at home, but at the gym I lift the heavy stuff 3 times a week.

I use 5 pound Reebok brand weights I found at Target. They were like 3.50 a piece, super cheap. I wish now that I'd bought 3lb weights instead but oh well.

I used 40 lbs. for weight-assisted squats and lunges and for deadlifts (LOVE deadlifts), but when it comes to pure armwork without the legs, 10 lbs is more than sufficient! I'm a weakling |

I started out with bean cans. lol. I have a 10lb and an 8lb weight (two different weights because my left arm has issues lifting 10lbs while my right
doesn't) but that was entirely too hard to lift with all that stuff going on. I then went out and bought 3lb weights. So much better.
