I think many communities are so detached now that they don't want to meddle in their neighbor's business. . .therefore they don't report weird
activity or watch out for them.

Cops are also searching for prostitutes' bodies...Old cases that are in that area which they think the captor might've been involved in.

Well some neighbors did call the cops about suspicious behavior. The cops just didn't do much about it.

Honestly, if my neighbors were keeping someone captive...I would NOT know. I can't even see their homes but no one really bothers with each other at all.
It's just how it is.
