Eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full. Your body knows when it needs fuel, that's what your hunger signal is for. Get the bulk of your nutrition from plant-based sources with lean protein to round out your diet. IMO, calorie counting is unnecessary for most people and can be detrimental in helping people recognize their hunger signals. |

A lot of people don't know how to count their calories. If you're counting around 1000 calories and you're a healthy weight, you probably
aren't counting right.

How do you even know that's not 1063? Do you magically just know every amount of calories for every product ever made? You have no idea what kind of soup I had, or how much, you have no idea what type of bread I was using, etc.

Even if you are using low calorie/low fat everything, that is still not very likely. I really think you are probably miscalculating/underestimating. But hey that would be fine since 1063 calories is really not sufficient. The bigger problem here though isn't the calories it's your choice of calories - not healthy at all. It would be better to eat a healthy 1700-1800 calories a day than all that fat even if it's only 1063 calories. |

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I was curious as to what the possible calorie breakdown is from your meals. From my calculations (and from what I
know), the breakdown of your calories could be:
2 scrambled eggs with cheese -Approx 200 calories (eggs are about 60-80 calories each, plus you added cheese. I'm also assuming you're using real eggs and not eat beaters or only eggs whites.) 1 coffee - I don't usually drink coffee... and unless I know more information about the kind of coffee you drink, I can't really even estimate this. 1 cheeseburger from burger king - 340 calories (from web-site) 1 turkey sandwich with cheese/mayo/mustard - Not really knowing what you add had exactly, I will estimate from what I know. 2 pieces of wheat bread (Mrs. Baird's bread), approximately 140 calories, 1 serving of turkey (about 6 thin slices of pre-packaged deli meat, e.g. oscar mayer) 60 calories, cheese/mayo/mustard about 200 calories. Total- 400 1 cream of broccoli soup with cheese - Cream is usually high in calories. I honestly can't even estimate this because I really don't know. My estimate on everything is most likely on the low side since I don't have any specifics except for that cheeseburger. The total of your day (and this is without counting the soup and coffee) comes to approx 940 calories. I highly doubt that soup and coffee combined is only is 123 calories.

Kit505 wrote:Like I said, I'm not at home so I don't have the specific products in front of me...but you're wrong. I don't remember the soup, but my coffee was only 4 calories As far as the cheese, I looked that up online (Trader Joes) and 1/4 cup of the shredded cheese I used, is 80 calories. I sprinkled some cheese on my eggs and sprinkled some cheese on the soup. I obviously don't know EXACTLY how much was used, but it was definitely not a full 1/4 cup. I estimated half and that was estimated on the higher side. Half of 1/4 cup is 40 calories (and that is for both my eggs, and soup). You estimated that I used 40 calories of cheese in my eggs alone (assuming that the eggs were 80 calories each...from your posted info. I don't remember off the top of my head how many calories were in my eggs. But I estimated on the higher side here from your example). Edit: Also, for my sandwich I'm pretty sure my bread was 40 calories a piece. So that would be 80 calories. You estimated 140 calories. You also estimated that my cheese/mayo/mustard was 200 calories. I looked up the cheese I used, and a full piece is 110 calories. I used half (they are big slices of pepperjack), so that's 55 calories. I don't remember what I used for my mayo/mustard (the brand I used), but 1 tablespoon of krat light mayo (I used light of somesort) is 45 calories, and I def didn't use a full tablespoon. I use probably a small dallop on the end of a knife. But we'll assume a full 45 calories here. Once again, I do the same thing with mustard...don't use much at all. Not that mustard is high in calories anyway. Online it says 1 tsp is 3 calories. So we'll assume that. That totals 103 calories, not the 200 you assumed.

You all eat like birds. I've been eating 1900-2200 lately and haven't been gaining weight. That's about what the calculators all tell me too.

Ok.. that's all fine and dandy if that's what the calories add up to. But have you added up the carbs, sugar, FAT, and sodium in all of that? Who the
hell cares about calories when you're racking up the points on the other things.

Mafonia wrote:Who cares (in terms of this post)? This post was about calories. I never once claimed what I ate yesterday was healthy. By any means. Just because I ate that yesterday doesn't mean I eat that exact thing (and the exact amount of calories, sodium, carbs, etc in those foods) every single day. I by no means said my diet yesterday was the same all the time, I said I can assume (as best could be assumed) that I eat about the same amount of calories on a consistent basis. Could I be wrong on that part? Sure, but I was making an assumption based on what I know I eat normally. And I do eat quite a lot of fruits and vegetables and other healthy items. Do I every day of my life? Nope. Do I sometimes have a lot of carbs and sodium in the food I eat some days? Yes, probably. Sorry And like someone else said, I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. I drink a shit ton of water through the day, always have, so maybe that keeps me fuller, I don't know. I'm not ever going to eat 1700-1800 calories on a daily basis because that's just not me (for the people saying that's what an average woman should eat). I would be overstuffed and miserable. I've never in my life been on a diet and I am at a very good weight for my body in my opinion. I'm a healthy 25 year old.

Someone told me you take the weight you want to maintain, multiply it by 10, and that's how many calories you eat in a day. idk though.

These people who claim they know how many calories they eat daily or "what would make them feel overstuffed": Do you track your food? The
overwhelming majority of people greatly underestimate the amount of calories they ate unless they measure, weigh, and count calories. So I GUARANTEE that you
are eating more than you think and it's likely close to 2,000.

DoesThatSparkle - It's already clear you're one of those people that grossly underestimates. I tracked what you said you ate (half of what you listed)
and without tracking ANY cheese, mayo, mustard, or coffee and any cream, you're at 1100. And I made the assumption you had wheat bread, which I have no
idea that you did or not. So clearly, you have no clue what you consume. And 1700-1800 calories would NOT be big deal. Throw in a dessert and you're there.

what bread do you use that is only 40 calories? I have looked for low cal bread, but one that also has fiber and protein and the one I have found and use if 80
cals a slice.
