I remember him saying that he wasn't ready to take that on right now. He said a new album means he's committing himself to two years of touring/promo
and he's not ready to do it again yet. Which I respect, and I hope that means he won't put out an album until he knows he's got something AWESOME
to give us!

he'll be relevant because he seems to always do little projects, collaborations, and producing.
i'm ready for a new album as well. he doesn't have to do a huge tour 2 year tour! just give us the music for now

On the one hand, I think he's right not to do it if he doesn't feel ready. On the other... next year we're coming up on 4 years between albums,
which to be honest I think is about as long as a pop artist really needs to be take between albums. Even Christina who also likes to take her time between is
releasing then.
Then again, difference between him and her is that she doesn't do half as many projects in between as he does - which is saying something because it's not like she just goes away and sits on her ass. That boy is a workaholic
