Going to an unaccredited masters program...thoughts? |

One of the universities I'm applying to has an MSW program, but it only started a few years ago. They were just accepted into the process of becoming
accredited, but the process takes a few years. I went to the university for awhile during undergrad and absolutely loved it. I loved my professors and the
campus, but I'm worried about the fact that they are currently lacking credentials and how it will affect me post-grad. Thoughts?

I would never spend money on a degree at a non-accredited school.

I'm pretty sure one of the requirements of belonging to the association of social workers (wherever yours may be) is that you have a degree from an
accredited university (and most social work jobs require you to join the association)

They WILL be accredited, though. I just need to figure out when that will be. It's not like they're a shitty school and lost it, they're just new.

If you want to waste the money go for it, but it is silly.

NO. DON'T DO IT.
Accreditation takes a while. You don't know how long it will take for them to get it. By then, you finish your program and they still don't have it. |

WHY would you do that? There's no good enough reason to go to an unaccredited school. You may think
you've gotten a good education, but don't we all think that? That's what accreditation is for.

It's a waste of money... your degree wouldn't mean anything.

Grad school takes so much energy and money that I cannot even imagine going into an unaccredited program.

Every job posting I have seen that requires a degree says its required to be from an accredited school. You would be wasting your time.
